Certificate of Authenticity

This is a genuine bonafide electrified six-car monorail!
No, wait, it's not. Sorry about the little mix-up there... but it's almost
a monorail, if that counts. This handy program roots through your computer
and lists your tracked music (and MP3 files), and it comes with a free hat
organizer! Now what could be better than that? Oh yes: it's FREE!
(I'd appreciate if you sent me an e-mail if you like this program, though.)

This is the first completely functional version of the program with all the
bells and whistles I had in the layout - recursive listing, list sorting by
title or filename, saving the list to an HTML file, cache files (sort of -
read below), color flags for large/small files, and more.
Of course, I can't let something go without constantly playing with it, so
I added a bunch more stuff to the list that I'd like to have in upcoming
  releases, so keep watching! :)

Program Updates

(v1.99 -> v2.0)
- The files have icons now. Just a surface change; I thought it looked bland
  before :)
- Routine added to remove the gridlines until you tell it to index. They were
covering up that beautiful title picture :)
- Full set of Windows file commands (copy, move, delete, rename) with shell-
  based undo!
- Cache files!! This is particularly useful if you're planning on writing a
lot of songs to a CD, because it doesn't make sure that the cache isn't too
old (really, you can index a set of folders and delete every song, and it'd
still re-index using the cache files) - yet. I'm working on it.
- HTML saver uses relative paths. Much more useful: for example, you can put
it on your website with links to all your music. Just edit the <base href>
line at the top of the file to where the files reside. (Make sure you have
the "." at the end, or it does weird stuff!)
- A couple more things... you'll just have to look.

(v1.8 -> v1.99)
- One list for all the files. It's faster and it looks better.
- Added indicator for small files in addition to large files.
- The list saver writes HTML now. You can include hyperlinks to your files in
  the Options dialog.
- The properties button shows the real Windows property sheets. (Thanks to
VBMaster from www.experts-exchange.com for that neat bit of code!)
- Files in the System folder are ignored.
- Support has been added for formats with the title at the end (namely MP3s).
This is buggy so the MP3 type definition has been commented in types.reg.
Just delete the // if you want to enable them. Don't test it, though - it
  WILL probably crash.
- More filetypes (open types.reg).

What It Does

- This is an easy enough program to understand. Just hit buttons and see what
  they do.
- The cache files might need a bit of explanation. If you check "cache files"
in the options dialog, the next time you hit the index button, it searches
through the folders for cache files. If there is a folder with no cache, it
indexes the folder as usual, then saves the cache (mi-cache.).
- Important: the cache file will load regardless of how old it is. If you're
constantly adding or changing files, you might want to disable the cache
option. In the next release I'll either include a checker to make sure the
cache files are up to date, or have a "cacheless index" button. As usual,
there's not very much error checking, so don't play with it. ;)
- You can save cache files to CDs. I doubt that I'll be changing the format
anytime soon (and if I do, I'll probably change the filename so that it
knows it's loading an old cache).

Bugs

- Some ITs will not display correctly, particularly some older ones (such as
Acid Dreams by Legend) and IT 2.15 compressed files. This is because they
do something weird with the title. You can work around it by opening it in
Impulse Tracker and re-saving as an IT 2.14 file, or just live with it.
- The MP3 title extractor is still buggy. Don't mess with it!

- If you find that something isn't working right, or even something that you
think should work differently, tell me [someguy@here.is]. Just say what the
message said (if any), what you were doing, what version of Windows you
have, whatever else you want to say, and I'll look at it about when I want
to. Suggestions, bug reports, questions, comments, flames, whatever ;)

Other stuff

- You can add new file types to list by editing the file types.reg which is a
commented plain text document. It shouldn't be too hard to understand.
- My highest score: 219,632.
- At the tone, the time will be 11:12 am. -beep-
- "Large" is a funny word. Try saying it a few times.
- What's that on your head? A wig!
